It is one of Louisiana’s biggest festivals presenting over 100 events. Of the events, some of the favorites include: duck races, laser tag, arm wrestling competitions, pony rides, carnival rides, Krakken kid’s slide, and a sailboat regatta race. The festival includes great entertainment with concerts ranging from Christian and Gospel, to Country and Cajun, to Zydeco, Urban|R & B acts, Oldies, and Classic Rock.

RRRRR Matie! It is that time of year again when the buccaneers invade the city of Tampa. Gasparilla Day is a tradition that has been honored since 1904. It is a festival that includes live entertainment, food, thrilling rides, fun games and amusements for all ages. After the festival is over most people go home and put away their pirate outfits for the next year. Those people who have learned of the latest tradition of Gasparilla Day have found the fun doesn’t end when the festival is over. The next week everyone meets in their pirate outfits at Painting with a Twist in St. Pete for the Gasparilla Painting Party. You will be painting the buccaneer head this year. This was one of my favorite paintings at Painting with a Twist in Slidell. It is called “La Luna” and it is a lot of fun to paint. It is a 2 hour painting and I love the contrast of lights to darks. It is very Van Gogh. It reminds me of the “Starry Night.” They haven’t put this on their calendar in a while but I am sure if you request this painting they would love to do it again.  This would also be a great painting for a private party.
